A Message from the Chair

Dear Farmers, Landowners, Families, and Friends,

My grandfather taught me that everything comes from the earth. That lesson continues to shape my belief that land is more than property. It is legacy, livelihood, culture, and the foundation of strong families and communities.

For generations, Black farmers and rural landowners have cared for South Carolina’s land. Yet heirs’ property, unclear titles, and limited access to planning, capital, and technical assistance continue to threaten family ownership.

The South Carolina Black Farmers Coalition Foundation connects farmers, forest landowners, and rural families with education, trusted partners, and resources to protect their land and strengthen their operations. The Foundation is a sister organization to the South Carolina Black Farmers Coalition, and together we serve farmers, landowners, and rural communities throughout the state.

Our goal is simple: help families keep their land, use it productively, and pass on a stronger legacy.
